Analysis of Spectral-Phase Conventional and Long-Range Surface Plasmon Resonance Biosensors

چکیده
We have analyzed and compared the spectral differential phase sensing performance for conventional and long-range (LR) surface plasmon resonance (SPR) across a wide sample refractive index range (i.e. dynamic range) of 1.33301.3505 using Fresnel’s Equations and Transfer Matrix method. We demonstrate that wide-range detection limit as high as 7.9×10 RIU (Refractive Index Unit) for conventional SPR can be achieved with a set of optimized sensing parameters and a phase measurement resolution of 2×10 rad, whereas best detection limit for LRSPR is lower. We have also investigated for the effect of sensing parameters including angle of incidence, metal film material and thickness. LRSPR is found to be quite tolerant to the choice of material and thickness of metal film. This work presents a comprehensive comparison between conventional and LR SPR for spectral-phase configuration.

Comparing signal amplification of thiocyanated Gold nanoparticles in the presence of different ions
Detecting is the most important section in all kinds of sensors. In this regard, the amplification of surface plasmon resonance intensity of gold colloids nanoparticles (GNPs) was studied in the presence of several ions. GNPs were synthesized and then capped by thiocyanate and characterized via DLS and TEM image. In the next step the effect of different concentrations of ions such as iron, copp...

متن کاملPushing the detection limits: the evanescent field in surface plasmon resonance and analyte-induced folding observation of long human telomeric repeats.
Conventional analysis of molecular interactions by surface plasmon resonance is achieved by the observation of optical density changes due to analyte binding to the ligand on the surface. Low molecular weight interaction partners are normally not detected. However, if a macromolecule such as DNA can extend beyond the evanescent field and analyte interaction results in a large-scale contraction,...
متن کاملAntibody Conjugated Gold Nanoparticles for Detection of Small Amounts of Antigen Based on Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) Spectra
In this paper, a fast and sensitive localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) based biosensor was developed and the optimization of gold – antibody conjugates through investigation of different parameters were performed. Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) with a size of ~20 nm were synthesized via chemical reduction of HAuCl4 with trisodium citrate as reducing and stabilizing agent. The impacts of pH ...
متن کاملSystematic Study of the Surface Plasmon Resonance Signals Generated by Cells for Sensors with Different Characteristic Lengths
The objectives of this study were to establish an in-depth understanding of the signals induced by mammalian cells in surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensing. To this end, two plasmonic structures with different propagation and penetration distances were used: conventional surface plasmon resonance and long-range surface plasmon resonance. Long-range SPR showed a lesser sensitivity to the absol...
